FAQ

How do I choose the correct size?

Simple Size Advice

Oxford Shoes:
Choose your normal UK size. They may feel firm at first but will soften slightly with wear.

Derby Shoes:
Usually true to size and slightly more adjustable because of the open lacing.

Loafers:
Loafers should fit comfortably but not too loose, as they do not have laces. If you are between sizes, please contact us for advice.

Chelsea Boots:
Choose your normal UK size. They should feel secure around the foot and ankle.

Made-to-Order Shoes:
Please contact us before ordering if you are unsure about sizing, especially for custom colours, patina finishes, or special leather options.

Is there a warranty on the shoes?

Yes. Oscar William shoes are carefully handmade using quality materials and traditional craftsmanship. We stand behind the quality of our footwear.

Our shoes are covered against manufacturing faults for a reasonable period after purchase. This includes issues caused by workmanship or material defects.

The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, water damage, incorrect storage, or damage caused by heavy use.

Because leather is a natural material, small variations in colour, texture, grain, and patina finish are normal and are part of the character of handmade shoes.

If you believe there is a fault with your shoes, please contact us with your order number, photos of the issue, and a short explanation. We will review the matter and advise the best solution.

For made-to-order shoes, each case will be assessed individually depending on the style, material, and nature of the issue.

Can I return or exchange the shoes?

Yes, ready-to-wear Oscar William shoes can be returned or exchanged within 14 days of receiving your order, as long as they are unworn, unused, in their original condition, and returned with the original packaging and proof of purchase.

Shoes must only be tried on indoors on a clean surface. We cannot accept returns for shoes that show signs of wear, creasing, damage, marks on the sole, or use outside.

For hygiene and quality reasons, all returned shoes will be checked before a refund or exchange is approved.

Made-to-Order Shoes

Made-to-order, custom colour, patina, personalised, or specially produced shoes cannot usually be returned or exchanged unless there is a manufacturing fault.

Because these shoes are made specially for the customer, we recommend contacting us before ordering if you are unsure about sizing, colour, leather, or style.

How to Request a Return or Exchange

Please contact us with your order number, reason for return or exchange, and photos if needed. Once your request is approved, we will advise you how to send the shoes back.

Return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility unless the item is faulty or incorrect.

How do I measure my foot?

To choose the best size for Oscar William shoes, please measure your foot from the back of the heel to the longest toe.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Place a piece of paper on the floor against a wall.
  2. Stand on the paper with your heel touching the wall.
  3. Keep your weight naturally on the foot, as this gives a more accurate measurement.
  4. Mark the longest point of your toe on the paper.
  5. Measure the distance from the edge of the paper to the mark in centimetres.
  6. Repeat the same process with the other foot.

Please use the measurement of the larger foot, as one foot can be slightly bigger than the other.

For the best result, measure your feet at the end of the day, when they are slightly more relaxed. We also recommend wearing the type of socks you would normally wear with the shoes.

Once you have your foot length, compare it with our UK size guide. If you are between sizes or unsure, please contact us before ordering.
